چکیده

Jitter is a fundamental metric of voice quality. The majority of jitter estimators produce an average value over a duration of several pitch periods. This paper proposes a method for short-time jitter measurement, based on a mathematical model which describes the coupling of two periodic phenomena. The movement of one of the two periodic phenomena with respect to the other is what is considered as jitter and what the proposed method measures. Through tests with synthetic jitter signals it has been verified that the suggested method provides accurate local estimates of jitter. Further evaluation was conducted on actual normal and pathological voice signals from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) Disordered Voice Database. Compared with corresponding parameters from the Multi-Dimension Voice Program (MDVP) and the Praat system, the proposed method outperformed both in normal vs. pathological voice discrimination.

Performance Analysis Of Mono-bit Digital Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (Difm) Device

Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (IFM) devices are the essential parts of anyESM, ELINT, and RWR receiver. Analog IFMs have been used for several decades. However, thesedevices are bulky, complex and expensive. Nowadays, there is a great interest in developing a wideband, high dynamic range, and accurate Digital IFMs. One Digital IFM that has suitably reached allthese requirements is mono-bi...

Spectral jitter modeling and estimation

This paper suggests a new method for short-time jitter estimation based on a mathematical model that describes the coupling of two periodical phenomena. Specifically, jitter is modeled as the movement of one of the two periodic phenomena with respect to the other. The proposed method measures this movement indirectly by taking into account the spectral properties of the suggestedmodel. Experime...

Fast and accurate jitter simulation technique for continuous-time SDmodulators

A fast and accurate technique for modelling and simulation of clock jitter in continuous-time sigma-delta (SD) modulators is introduced. In addition to its high speed compared to the traditional jitter simulation method, the proposed technique is still continuous-time based, which is more convenient than discrete-time based jitter modelling suggested in other publications. The mathematical prin...

Modeling of Jitter Characteristics for the Second Order Bang-Bang CDR

Bang-Bang clock and data recovery (BBCDR) circuits are hard nonlinear systems due to the nonlinearity introduced by the binary phase detector (BPD). The specification of the CDR frequency response is determined by jitter tolerance and jitter transfer. In this paper, jitter transfer and jitter tolerance of the second-order BBCDR are characterized by formulating the time domain waveforms. As a re...

A Comprehensive Mathematical Model for Analysis of WR-Resolvers under Stator Short Circuit Fault

Wound-Rotor (WR) resolvers are the most widely used position sensors in applications with harsh environmental conditions. However, their performance is exposed to failure due to the high risk of short circuit (SC) fault. Although the output current of the resolver is negligible, its thin copper wires increase the probability of the short circuit fault. To avoid the propagation of the turn-to-tu...
